CHI Pro Low EMF Blowdryer

It’s not pink, but I felt compelled to write about this blowdryer because it is such a great gadget. I firmly believe that there’s nothing like having the right tool for the job, and this baby is the right tool.

My old blowdryer was four years old, and a cheap one to begin with. About a month ago, it started making some really obnoxious noises when it heated up — it sounded like something inside was loose and banging against something else. I started looking and asking around, and my stylist recommended the CHI brand, so I thought I’d try it.

On the box, it says that this dryer uses “Ceramic Technology, Negative Ions, Far Infrared and Low EMF” I have no idea what that means, but they are definitely doing something right. The first thing I noticed about this blowdryer is that it’s quiet, and the second thing I noticed is that it dries my hair pretty quickly. The fit and finish are very good, and it has all the features I needed (including cool shot button). It comes with a long cord, a concentrator nozzle, and a diffuser. But the really important thing is that it makes my hair look and feel fabulous! No more fried, frizzy hair; it actually behaves like silky hair again instead of straw. I’ve never paid anywhere near $100 for a hair styling tool before, but this alone makes it worth every penny. I’ll never go back to cheap-ass styling tools again.

This model is on the less-expensive end of CHI dryers – some of them run about $200. I got my CHI Pro on sale at Ulta last week, but at the moment you can find it for about $85 on Amazon.
