How have I not heard of this bag before?
In searching for a good job-interview bag, I came across the Mulberry Bayswater. Vaguely reminiscent of the Hermès Birkin, but slouchier and a touch more casual…and less old-ladyish. It’s also a tenth of the Birkin price. At 14.1 x 9.8 x 6.3 inches, it’s fairly large, but even on tiny Kate Moss (below) it doesn’t look overwhelming. And the little mulberry-tree detail is adorable! My only concern is that I think it’s unlined. Not a huge deal, but for $995 I kinda think it should be, just to keep the little bits of suede from flaking off onto your stuff.

According to their website, Mulberry is a British design company established in Somerset in the 1970s. Their vision marries “function, fashion and sensual materials to make products that look and feel superb,” which works perfectly for me. After visiting last year, I am utterly in love with Somerset…I can already feel a sort of bonding happening between me and Mulberry. Uh-oh!
